Activated Carbon Filter Systems

Activated carbon filters are used to remove unwanted chlorine, color, taste, odors, dissolved gases, residues, and organic matter from water. The efficiency of an activated carbon filter is determined by the properties of the activated carbon in the filter bed and the properly selected water flow rate. The lifespan of the activated carbon varies depending on the water quality and the volume of water treated.

One important consideration when using activated carbon is that the mineral bed can provide an environment conducive to bacterial growth. Because activated carbon accumulates organic matter, if bacteria are present in the water, they may use this organic matter as nourishment and multiply, potentially leading to bacterial leakage. Therefore, it is essential to disinfect the water both before and after the activated carbon unit. This device, equipped with fully automated control systems, performs the necessary backwashing and regeneration processes at predetermined intervals without any human intervention.

Applications:

  • Pre-treatment before reverse osmosis (RO).
  • In industrial water treatment processes.
  • Post-treatment of wastewater and gray water for garden irrigation.
  • Groundwater treatment.
  • Surface water treatment.
  • Provision of clean water.
