AS-FE-MN

Arsenic combines with iron and is subsequently captured by the AS-FE-MN media, which has a strong affinity for metals. If iron is not present in the water, ferrous chloride is added to enable arsenic to combine with iron. In cases where arsenic levels are high, additional ferrous chloride may be required. In a laboratory test, well water containing approximately 78 PPB of arsenic had a small amount of ferrous chloride added, and was then passed through the AS-FE-MN media. The results showed that the arsenic concentration was reduced from 78 PPB to less than 1 PPB. In large-scale applications, the AS-FE-MN media is simply backwashed with clean chlorinated water and returned to service without the need for regeneration like conventional Greensand media.
