Degasifier systems are used to remove dissolved gases—such as carbon dioxide (CO₂) and hydrogen sulfide (H₂S)—from water.
These systems relieve the load on ion exchange units by eliminating both naturally occurring gases and those produced as by-products during various stages of water treatment. These simple and economical systems require no maintenance and significantly reduce the frequency of resin regeneration when in use.
Degasifiers remove most gases (especially carbon dioxide) from process water and are typically used between conventional cationic and anionic ion exchange units or after a reverse osmosis unit. If the process water has a high carbon dioxide level and a degasifier is not used, the regeneration frequency of the anionic resin increases, resulting in time loss and excessive chemical consumption.
