Automatic Regeneration (Scheduled Softening)
Water softening systems automatically perform the regeneration process at preset times—daily, weekly, or monthly—without requiring any manual intervention. The resin, which reaches saturation in a controlled manner, is regenerated with brine, effectively removing magnesium (Mg) and calcium (Ca) ions.
Flow-controlled softening systems measure the volume of water passing through the device using an integrated meter and then subject the saturated resin to a pre-programmed regeneration process. When saturation is reached, the resin is regenerated with brine in a controlled manner, removing the calcium and magnesium ions from the water.
Tandem-type (duplex) systems are ideal for facilities requiring continuous soft water 24 hours a day. These systems feature two resin columns filled with cationic resins, automatic valves, and a salt tank. In tandem softening systems, the automatic valves operate based on flow control. When water flows through the resin tank in service at a predetermined rate, it automatically enters the regeneration cycle, while the other tank switches to service to continue supplying soft water. This ensures uninterrupted soft water production around the clock without human intervention.
