Turbidex

Turbidex is a mineral that, in addition to its many advantages, is commonly used as a filter medium for suspended solids removal. Its angular shape and irregular surface provide a large filtration area, offering a screening precision of up to 20–40 microns. Due to its low need for backwashing, it enables long filtration cycles. Its large and irregular surface prevents the formation of a filter “cake” at the top layer of conventional filter sand, thus achieving longer filtration durations. Although it is not a dedicated iron removal mineral, the oxidized iron present in raw water can be captured by Turbidex’s structure. Pre-oxidation may be carried out roughly by aeration, ozonation, or chlorination.
